Loma Linda University Medical Center is pleased to offer combined training in Family and Preventive Medicine, helping to fulfill our wholistic health mission. Thank you for visiting us!
Our unique program includes a full spectrum of primary care experiences through the Loma Linda University Family Medicine Residency Program, and a comprehensive exposure to population-based care and health-care systems through the Loma Linda University Preventive Medicine Residency Program. During their four years with us, all residents graduate with a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) through the Loma Linda University School of Public Health and will have an opportunity to experience unique exposures to our two areas of strength – Lifestyle Medicine and Global Health.
Upon completion of their training, residents are board eligible in family medicine and preventive medicine (we were the first four-year curriculum formally approved by both the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine). Residents will be competent in Lifestyle Medicine (see JAMA article) and well positioned to respond to changes in health care, including the changing landscape of primary care. We believe our graduates will lead in the provision of new models of chronic disease care such as obesity and diabetes, as well as global health challenges such as maternal child health and emerging diseases. Our residency vision is to create a worldwide health epidemic.
If you are committed to being an excellent patient care provider and also want to look at the bigger picture in health care; if you are convinced that lifestyle change is foundational to good health; or if you are on course to make a difference in global health — then we’d love to talk with you!
